When a UPVC window or door mechanism has failed and cannot be released from the outside using normal tools, you switch to a backtrack-based method: gaining access to the back of the sash so you can reach the mechanism directly.
The Souber Slotting Kit allows you to do exactly that. You remove the panel or sealed unit, expose the rear of the sash, and get straight onto the mechanism even on small windows where normal tools can’t reach and shootbolt-only systems that give you nothing to work with from the front.
The slotting jig screws directly onto the inside of the UPVC sash, locking itself in place so you can machine quickly, cleanly and exactly where you need to. No wobble, no guesswork, just controlled access to the failed internals. You get two burr types in the kit:
PVC burr for smooth, fast cuts through plastic.
Steel burr for tougher, reinforced areas.
Run them with any 3 mm-based Dremel or similar rotary tool. A right-angle attachment (Dremel #575) helps you work in tight spaces with less than 350 mm clearance.
Once you expose the mechanism, you finish the job with the included release striker tool, giving you a clean, professional opening without destroying the sash.
